A client asked us recently why we still book a hotel that opened in 1983, when Delhi has no shortage of newer five-star towers. The honest answer is that Hyatt Regency Delhi has held its position for a reason: it's one of the largest hotels in the city, 494 rooms across seven floors, and its age means the property has had decades to build the kind of infrastructure, restaurant variety, event space, metro access, that a newer, smaller hotel simply hasn't had time to develop yet.
The two zones this hotel sits between. Bhikaji Cama Place puts you on the edge of Delhi's diplomatic enclave, meaning genuine proximity to embassies and government offices if that's your reason for travel. It also sits roughly 8-9 km from India Gate and Qutub Minar, close enough for a straightforward day trip, far enough that you won't be inside the tourist crush of Connaught Place every time you step outside. We book this hotel specifically for clients who fall into that middle ground: not purely business, not purely sightseeing, but needing reasonable access to both.
What decades of operation actually gets you. Four restaurants, including The China Kitchen, mean you're not stuck eating at the same table every night of a longer stay. Close to a dozen meeting rooms and a ballroom with serious capacity mean the property regularly hosts both large weddings and corporate conferences, something a smaller boutique hotel usually can't accommodate. And Bhikaji Cama Place Metro Station, a 7-minute walk away on the Pink Line, gives guests an alternative to relying entirely on cabs, a detail that matters more the longer a stay runs.
Where the age shows, and where it doesn't. Some of the standard King and Twin rooms reflect an older hotel's proportions rather than a newly built one, though the property has been renovated since it opened. For more space, we typically book clients into a Regency Suite or Executive Suite, several running around 75 sq m with a separate sitting area, which closes that gap considerably. If having the newest possible room matters more to you than the hotel's overall infrastructure, we're happy to suggest a more recently built alternative instead.
Getting there and around. The airport is about 26 minutes and 16 km by road under normal conditions, though we treat that as a floor rather than a guarantee given Delhi's traffic. Sarojini Nagar Market sits a couple of kilometres away for anyone wanting a break from hotel dining, and the property's outdoor pool and 24-hour gym cover the basics for downtime between meetings or sightseeing.

Mainly for the infrastructure that comes with decades of operation: four restaurants instead of one, close to a dozen meeting rooms, and an established metro connection. If a brand-new build matters more to you than that range of facilities, we can suggest a newer alternative.
Genuinely both, though not walking-distance to either. It sits in the diplomatic enclave for embassy-related business, while India Gate and Qutub Minar are an 8-9 km drive, reachable without a long commute but not something you'd walk to.
About 26 minutes and 16 km by road in normal traffic. We build in extra time for peak-hour arrivals since this figure isn't guaranteed.
Yes. It has close to a dozen meeting rooms and a ballroom with substantial capacity, and it's a well-established venue locally for both weddings and conferences. Send us your guest count and dates and we'll coordinate with the hotel directly.
Yes, Bhikaji Cama Place Metro Station on the Pink Line is about a 7-minute walk from the property.
For shorter stays, a standard King or Twin room is fine. For longer stays or if extra space matters, we'd suggest a Regency Suite or Executive Suite, several around 75 sq m with a separate sitting area, since some standard rooms reflect the building's original 1983 proportions.
