Because Udaipur is positioned as the calmer, more romantic city on this route, a lot of first-time itineraries shortchange it, assuming a day or so is enough since "there's nothing to rush toward" the way there is at the Taj. In practice, Udaipur is where most travelers say they wished they'd built in more time, not less — a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola, an unhurried rooftop dinner, and simply sitting with the view tend to become the parts of the trip people talk about longest afterward.
