Day 1 : Arrive Delhi (Flight)

New Delhi, the capital and the third largest city of India are a fusion of the ancient and the modern. Standing along the West End of Gangetic Plain, the capital city, Delhi, unwinds a picture rich with culture, architecture and human diversity, deep in history, monuments, museums, galleries, gardens and exotic shows. Comprising of two contrasting yet harmonious parts, the Old Delhi and New Delhi, the city is a travel hub of Northern India.
Afternoon Sightseeing of New Delhi visiting the Qutab Minar, Humayun Tomb, India Gate, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, various Government building including Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, etc
Qutab Minar: Qutab Minar is a soaring, 73 m-high tower of victory, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi’s last Hindu kingdom. This 234 feet high tower, gracefully hand-carved for its entire height, has five distinct storeys, each marked by a projecting balcony and tapers from a 15 m diameter at the base to just 2.5 m at the top.
Humayun Tomb: His senior widow Bega Begum built it in 1565 A.D. nine years after the death of Humayun. Inside the walled enclosure the most notable feature are the garden squares (chaharbagh) with pathways water channels, centrally located well proportional mausoleum topped by double dome.
India Gate: At the centre of New Delhi stands the 42 m high India Gate, an “Arc-de-Triomphe” like archway, commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the World War I

Day 2 : Delhi – Jaipur (Surface – 05hrs)
Morning visit Old Delhi to see Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort.
Raj Ghat: Along with riverfront, the most prominent memorial among many is the Raj Ghat dedicated to the father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi). The historic name refers to the ghat (stepped embankment) at the edge of the river.
Jama Masjid: This great mosque of Old Delhi is the largest in India, with a courtyard capable of holding 25,000 devotees. The highly decorative mosque has three great gates, four towers and two 40 m-high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble
Chandni Chowk: Chandni Chowk was built by Shah Jahan’s favorite daughter- Jahanara Begum in 1650 as a compliment to the imperial habitat – the Red Fort. Spend some time in Chandni Chowk to savour the ambience of a crowded oriental bazaar.
Red Fort: The red sandstone walls of the massive Red Fort (Lal Qila) rise 33-m above the clamor of Old Delhi as a reminder of the magnificent power and pomp of the Mughal emperors
After noon drive to Jaipur. Arrive Jaipur & transfer to hotel. Later day at leisure.

Day 3 : Jaipur

AMBER FORT PALACE – Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it’s ultimate expression. Excursion to Amber Fort. Elephant ride ascent to the fort.
CITY PALACE – A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum
JANTAR MANTAR – This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.
HAWA MAHAL – The ornamental facade of this “Palace of Winds” is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women.

Day 4 : Jaipur – Agra (Surface – 05hrs)

After breakfast drive to Agra, enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri-a perfectly preserved red sandstone “ghost town” which was the estranged capital of mughal emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed. Jaipur, the fabled “pink city” of the desert named after Jai Singh, the former Maharaja of Jaipur. Arrive Agra & transfer to hotel.
Agra came into limelight during the rule of Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi – who had made it the capital of his empire. Later in 1526 A.D., the Mughal Emperor Babar took upon himself the task for rendering Agra, a unique character and beauty of its own. The visionary that he was and a great patron of the arts, Emperor Babar brought in a change in the culture and life-style among the people of Agra, which then brought forth some of the finest craftsmen, artists, statesmen, warriors and nobility, this part of India had ever witnessed.
The next few hundred years of Agra witnessed the rise of the pomp and pageantry of three great Mughal monarchs – Emperor Akbar, Jehangir and ShahJahan – all of whom lavished on this fabled city, their love and riches immeasurable to transform the land into one of the great centers of art, culture, learning and commerce.
Sunset visit of Taj Mahal built by Shah Jahan between 1631 to 1653 in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. This architectural marvel is a perfectly proportioned masterpiece fashioned from white marble that stands testimony to the skill of 20,000 craftsmen brought together from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy, laboured day and night who took 17 years to complete the main structure of this ‘Love Poem in Marble’. (Friday closed).

Day 5 : Agra – Jhansi (Train) – Khajuraho (Surface – 04hrs)

Orchha was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput chieftain, Rudra Pratap, who chose this stretch of land along the Betwa river as an ideal site for his capital. Of the succeeding rulers, the most notable was Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo who built the exquisite Jehangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by graceful chhatris. From here the view of soaring temple spires and cenotaphs is spectacular.
Chhatris (Cenotaphs) There are 14 Chhatris or Memorials to the rulers of Orchha, grouped along the Kanchan Ghat of the river Betwa.
There after continue drive by surface to Khajuraho. On arrival check in at Hotel. The rich and powerful Chandela Emperors built the magnificent temples at Khajuraho, whose dynasty survived for five generations before falling to the onslaught of Islam.
Almost all the temples date from one century-long burst of creative genius between 950 to 1050 AD. The sculptures covering the temples celebrate the joy of life and love. Each temple has a large number of spires in ascending order representing man’s aspirations towards goals. The temples are excellent examples of the Indo-Aryan architecture, but it is the erotic carvings with which they are so liberally embellished that have made Khajuraho so famous. The recurrent theme of the sculptures is woman in all her glory.

Day 6 : Khajuraho – Jhansi (Surface -04 hrs)- Delhi (Train)

Morning visit the Group of temples.
It is one of the largest and most typical of the Khajuraho temples. Visit the Chaunsat Yogini Jain Temple-dedicated to the 64 “Yoginis” or attendants of Goddess Kali. This temple stands apart from the rest. Also seethe Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely sculpture of Lord Vishnu in his 11-headed form. The sculptures that adorn the temples, carved in stone depict gods, goddesses and amorous couples.
The temples of Khajuraho are divided into three geographical groups: Western, Eastern and Southern
The Western group is certainly the best known, because it is to this group that the largest and most typical Khajuraho temple belongs: The Kandariya Mahadev. Perfectly symmetrical, it soars 31 m high. Though the four temples that stand at the corners of the main shrine are now in ruins, the main shrine has an exquisitely carved entrance arch with a multitude of themes
The three Hindu temples in The Eastern Group are the Brahma, Vamana and Javari Temples. A double row of apsaras, celestial nymphs, adorns the outer walls of the Vamana temple. A variety of sensuous the fine Chaturbhuj Temple in this group has a massive intricately carved image of Vishnu in the sanctum.
